MADE IN CHINA - CONTACT Festival - Galley Opening/show
“During May of 2011, twenty Humber College Creative photography students and their professor Neil Fox embarked on a once in a life time trip to China. “Made in China”, explores an array of beauty and traditional culture beyond the stereotype of consumerism. It brings to life the essence of China, a country of endless exploration. The photographs from the body of work “Made in China”, will present various styles, formats, and genres through the eyes of each of the twenty – two photographers in attendance.”
This show is part of CONTACT - “An annual festival of photography in Toronto, during the month of May, with over 1000 local, national and international artists exhibiting at almost 200 venues. CONTACT is the largest photography event in the world, and a premiere cultural event in Canada.”

Meet Jason
While in China my classmates and I visited Yangshuo County School for the afternoon. and met up with a group of 7/8 year old students that attended the school. We paired up with a student and tried our best to translate their chinese name into english. My students name was pronounced Ji-son in chinese, so we gave him the name Jason. We all gave our students a quick lesson on how to use a point and shoot camera and then told them they could keep the camera but they had to document their lives for a day. Capturing everything from their means of transpiration, family, meals, hobbies and where they live. When we arrived back in Canada we were sent the images that our student took via email. It was really cool to get a glimpse of Jason’s everyday life style and I has amazed by some of the great shots my student Jason took, they were quite artistic.
Check out Jason’s Pics here: JASON’S PICS
At our gallery show opening Made In China May 3rd some of Jason’s images along with all other the students from Yangshuo County School will be on display.
Yangshuo Countryside School
My classmates and I visited another school while we were in Yangshuo, China. This school was in a rural area of Yangshuo and required a 2 hour bike hike to reach the school from where we were staying. On our way to the school we passed beautiful countryside scenery including mountains, crop fields, river ways and also a flooded bridge from the large amounts of rainfall that day, which was necessary for us to cross to reach the school. The school was a lot smaller than Yangshuo County School and had 10 students and 1 teacher. When we arrived they were currently in math class so we decided to give them a break and take them outside for some fun. They showed us their routine for phys-ed class so I decided to join in and even had a chance to teach them a few moves. It was a blast showing the kids everything from the macarena to the funky chicken. They all seemed to joy our quick visit by the smiles on their faces including mine. This was an amazing experience for me and hopefully for the kids aswell and it is a day I will never forget.

PHOTONews Canada Magazine
In the new spring issue of PHOTONews Canada there is a great article written about my classmates and I trip to China. It features images from the trip including a group shot of us on the Great Wall the morning after we camped out. It is a quick read that summarizes our trip quite well and it also has some info about our up coming gallery show apart of CONTACT Phototgraphy Festival (more info coming soon).

MOVE EAT LEARN
“3 guys, 44 days, 11 countries, 18 flights, 38 thousand miles, an exploding volcano, 2 cameras and almost a terabyte of footage… all to turn 3 ambitious linear concepts based on movement, learning and food ….into 3 beautiful and hopefully compelling short films…..”
This is by far the dopest thing I’v come across on the internet so far. From the concept to the visuals, to the editing, to the music; I think its an amazing piece of work.
I think the concept is brilliant, inspiring and simple. Move, Eat, Learn, 3 verbs that I consider as the motive of life.
I think visuals are vivid and compelling, I feel as if I am there every step of the way eating scallops, learning a new board game and walking through a busy street.
I think the editing job is simple but very effective, it doesn’t distract you from the concept or visuals. The half n’ half of the plates of food I found pretty dope.
I found Move as the most visually compelling, Learn as the most inspiring and Eat the most tempting…to eat all those delicious foods that is. I’m glad I found this and it has defiantly inspired me to pursue my eager to travel. I hope you enjoy and it inspires you as well to Move.Eat.Learn.
Big shout out and even bigger thank you to those who made this happen.

“Day To Day”
A promo video I starred in (the hand model) for a friend of mines accessory company Esency. The concept behind the video was capturing a mans daily morning routine with his daily essentials. I enjoyed the cool editing jobalong with the funky track. The video was shot by Owen Captures, a cool down to earth guy who I shared similar interests in travel with. If you get a chance I recommend you check his site, he has some great shots collected along his travels.
